In 1923, renowned American artist N.C. Wyeth was commissioned by the Westtown School Class of 1910 to paint The Giant as a tribute to their friend and classmate who died of tuberculosis in 1916 at just 25. To mark the painting’s centennial, Springhouse Films produced this short film—created in collaboration with the Brandywine Museum and Westtown School—highlighting the work’s history and significance. The film was shot at Wyeth’s preserved studio in Chadds Ford, which remains preserved just as the artist left it.
